About Us

In México, Santander Group has created a new company which, according to our laws, adopts the shape of an “Institución de Banca Múltiple”. This new company, named Banco S3 CACEIS México, S.A. Institución de Banca Múltiple, acquired the securities and cash depositing, custody and administration business formerly owned by Banco Santander (México), S.A. and is currently operating the business autonomously and in compliance with all the applicable legal requirements.

Banco S3 Mexico is a banking entity focused on the provision of securities and cash Custody, Settlement and Administration services, as well as the collection of deposits, granting of credit, administration of accounts with the central securities depository and other ancillary services such as forex, securities lending, price recording at the Mexican stock exchange (Bolsa Mexicana de Valores) and settlement in Continuous Linked Settlement (CLS), all of them related to these activities and processed by a third party.

Banco S3 Mexico, which drew on the expertise of Banco Santander México, has its own banking systems and operating teams, an experienced management team and a corporate government fully compliant with the Mexican regulations.

The Bank performs the administration and operation of securities and cash accounts held by direct participants at the central securities depository (Depositario Central de Valores, S.D. Indeval).

This service enables operational and administration efficiencies for clients, as well as infrastructure and technology cost savings. It also allows for economies of scale and direct economic cost savings for clients through the procurement of the service.

  •  Securities lending service available for equity, fixed income and capital investment companies through the central securities depository (S.D. Indeval).

Credit lines (*)

Credit lines for the intraday operations of securities and cash settlement are directly granted to the clients by banking entities that will document in an adequate manner every granted line. Banco S3 CACEIS México may help clients with the documentation needed; however, all the credit research, decision and contracting procedures are to be carried out by the relevant bank.

Forex (*)

  •  The Bank will facilitate Foreign Exchange (FX) services, i.e. services related to foreign exchange transactions entered by the clients with other financial entities.
  •  Facilitation of foreign exchange transactions to the trading desk of another entity that is authorised to provide these services.
  •  Transfers and receipts of funds in domestic currency or other currencies.

Cross prices (*)

This is a service promoted by the Bank whereby a brokerage firm is used for submitting information on registered clients at SI Bolsa.

Securities sale (*)

This is a service whereby the Bank uses a brokerage firm in order to comply with the provisions of Article 498 of the insurance and guarantees Act (Ley de Seguros y Fianzas), according to which the insurance companies must have entered a contract that sets out the obligation of selling securities.

Settlement in CLS (*)

This is a service facilitated by the Bank where Banco Santander Mexico intervenes as a participant in the Continuous Linked Settlement (“CLS”), an international system that operates the settlement of FX market transactions in 17 currencies, including the Mexican peso (since May 2008).

Credit (*)

This is a service that consists on the granting of credit by S3MX to clients to cover for securities settlement and/or cash transfer needs.
